Should I buy a footprint for my tent? The answer to this is yes.
A very common question that we often are asked if it really is necessary to buy a tent footprint. The idea of buying a footprint is that it will help you when going camping.
The idea is basically a footprint / ground sheet which goes underneath the body of the tent to keep it nice and dry.
As many modern tents have sewn in groundsheets it will be a great idea to have a footprint to put under your tent as. If you don’t do the you have to swop you tent around and then clean it – and your flysheet can then also get muddy.
If you put your tent on a tent footprint you will be able to remove/pack down your tent and the bottom of it will be clean and ready to go into the packsack.
You just need to pop up / fold out the footprint and then place you tent on top of this footprint. This will then keep your base of the tent nice and dry.
A footprint also gives you a extra layer of fabric that helps you to withstand stony rocks and grounds.
9 times out of 10 you come to pitch your tent where there'll be some sort of wetness or mud rocks stones. Footprints can be bought at very small cost but it saves you a lot of hassle in the long run. A footprint can easily be cleaned by taking it to the nearest hose pipe and clean it.
It is better to just clean the footprint than cleaning the whole tent!
